A surprise summer themed gift exchange!

What is Secret Summer?
Secret Summer, similarly to Secret Santa and Secret Valentines, is a mid-year event between a group of people where there is an exchange of gifts centered around group, romantic and friendship themes but with a touch of summer thrown into it! Everyone is assigned with someone and their respective wishlist, the goal is to gift the assigned person something from their wishlist.

In SKPetals Secret Summer, this would be the exchange of creative gifts such as fanart or fanfiction.

Can I join?
The more the merrier! However, you must be an artist or writer to join the event. We welcome all skill levels so do not be shy!

How do I join?
To join the event, please fill the form shown in the link below.

If you are in our SKPetals Discord server, react to the announcement post with a beach emoji to be assigned a Secret Summer role for notifications.

It is not mandatory to be on the server in order to participate, the mandatory part is the form we have created! Please make sure you do this by Tuesday, June 30th 2026.

What should I do next?
Your next step should be to create a wishlist and write it down on the form provided above. If by any reason you are unable to fill the form, please send it via DM to a Mod.

What do you mean by wishlist?

It’s a list of prompts you would like your Summer to create their gift around:

• You should have around 2-3 different ideas for them to choose from.
• Try to keep them varied.
• They must be friendship, group or romantic related for this event. For example, if I have three prompts that are all Yoh-only-themed prompts, this might be difficult for someone who isn't confident in drawing or writing about Yoh. But if you have one Yoh-themed prompt, one Anna-themed, and one Ren-themed prompts, this might be easier for them 🥰 The same goes for AUs!
• If you wish for art/fanfics of your OC/OCxCanon/Favorite Characters, try to give your Sun different moments/AUs they can choose from!

Prompts in your wishlist should be in line with the SKPetals server rules. NSFW prompts or gifts are not allowed. GenAI is strictly forbidden in any way or form!

Prompts must be Shaman King related, but Shaman King OCs and OCxCanon are also welcome!

We ask for this field to be filled through bullet points and as briefly as possible, too much information can cause your Summer to get confused and have a difficult time working on your gift.

Example of how to fill this form:

• Yoh and Anna beach date
• Team The Ren, team summer day
• My OC, [insert OC name], and their canon ship, [insert canon character name] during summer time

Once completed, don’t forget to fill the references field, related with your wishlist, so that your Sun can have easy access to them! If you include your Shaman King OC on the list please don’t forget to write topics of their personality in the references field!

Please make sure your wishlist is completed by Tuesday, June 30th 2026.

I have characters and/or ships which I do not like, can these be avoided?
Mods will randomize the pairs but the last thing we want is to make someone feel like they have to create something they are uncomfortable with, therefore we have included a field on the form for this regard, or, if you prefer you can DM directly Mod Ellie, Mod Ryn or Mod Tily if you have a ship/character you do not wish to draw/write about.

Important note: Please do not create an extensive list as that will make it difficult for Mods to pair you with someone. If the list is extensive then the Mods will be forced to DM you to reduce your list. We kindly ask that you let the mods know about ships/characters that you absolutely do not want to draw/write about.

Remember that Secret Summer is an event to give something to someone and should not be seen as an event where participants simply get free art or fanfiction from someone else. Be considerate of both mods and other participants.

I have people that I do not get along with and don’t wish to be paired with, can these be avoided?
Absolutely! We prioritize people’s comfort and we have no wish to pair you up with someone you don’t get along with so we have a field in the form where you can let the mods know about people you don’t wish to be paired with.

You do not have to justify why you don’t want to be paired with them.
Your list is private and only Mods will have access to it for event purposes.

When and how will I receive my giftee?
Once sign up has closed on June 30th 2026, you will be visited by Summer Mods! You will be privately DM'd the name of your Secret Summer giftee and their respective wishlist. Please make sure you are able to receive DMs on at least one online platform (Discord, Twitter, Instagram, etc).

Please keep your Secret Summer private until the gift exchange begins on August 1st, 2026, and you are ready to share your gift!

When should I post my gift?
Gift exchange will be between August 1st and August 30th.

If you post it in the server, please post on the 🌸-2026-event-submissions channel under ‘ANNUAL EVENTS' category, and tag your Secret Summer.

If you only post it on your social media, please use the tag #skpetalssecretsummer so that the Mods can keep track of the submissions and, of course, tag your Secret Summer and/or send it via DM to them.

Please do not share your gift before the gifting period. If there is a reason that you may be away during this time period and unable to post, please contact a Mod.

What if I want to remain anonymous?
If you would like to remain anonymous then no worries! During the applications, on the form, be sure to mention that you want to remain anonymous and when the gifting period begins please message your gift to a mod and we will post it on the server and send it to your Secret Summer.

Can I post my gift for someone on other Social Media sites?
Of course! Share your works with the world! Please feel free to link in the server so we can share the love across platforms!

If you would like to share your gift from your Summer, please do not post or reupload their gift to you without their permission.

I don't like my gift…
It is a shame that you are unhappy with your gift. However, please recognise that someone has put a lot of time and effort into creating something for you. This is a free event with the intention of making someone happy.

If it really upsets you, please contact a Mod.

Please note that 'joke' entries are not permitted, and could lead to action by the Mod team.

GenAI art/writing is strictly forbidden.

I can't finish my gift
If you are unable to finish your gift, please contact a Mod at the earliest convenience. We know real life can sometimes take over, or art block and writers block are things which affect us all. Your mental health matters the most.

Do not worry. Just let us know as soon as possible and we will arrange someone else to step in.
